Foreign boat operating illegally in Maldivian waters
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)’s Air Corps has intercepted a foreign fishing boat operating illegally in Maldivian waters.
MNDF said the boat was seized as part of an operation to conduct surveillance of the Maldives’ Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The boat was located using an MNDF Air Corps drone, and has since been detained by the Coast Guard.
This incident follows the interception of a foreign dinghy vessel on Monday, which was also found operating illegally in Maldivian waters. The vessel was handed over to Maldives Police Service (MPS).
