President Dr Mohamed Muizzu conveyed his felicitations to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on the occasion of Qatar's National Day.
In his letters to the emir and prime minister, President Dr Muizzu extended warm greetings and best wishes from the government and people of the Maldives to the leadership and people of Qatar. He highlighted the jubilant nature of the occasion and expressed his confidence in the continuation of the strong and nurturing bilateral relations between the two nations, according to a statement by the President's Office.
Highlighting Qatar's significant role as a close development partner of the Maldives, President Dr Muizzu underscored the deep commitment of the Maldivian government to fortify the bonds of friendship, close cooperation, and people-to-people connections with Qatar. He stressed the importance of preserving and nurturing these ties for the mutual benefit and prosperity of both countries, the President's Office statement said.
President Muizzu also conveyed his best wishes for the good health and well-being of the emir and prime minister, along with the continued progress and prosperity of the Qatari people. He also acknowledged the importance of Qatar's National Day, celebrated on 18 December each year, as a symbol of the nation's unity and pride.
In addition to his official letters, President Muizzu extended his National Day greetings via a post on his official X account.
