Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing government services to the public without delay and interruption.
The Minister made the statement at an information session held to brief Male’ City Council employees on document verification procedures and presidential directives in the wake of a fire that destroyed two sections of the City Council, along with three other ministries.
At the meeting, the Minister stressed the need to resume the services of the council’s Vital Registration Section, and Land and Building Department, both of which were affected by the fire. He emphasised that government services must be provided to the public at the earliest and without interruption. The Minister also praised the council employees for their proactivity in performing their responsibilities and thanked them on behalf of the President.
The Minister further noted the significance of the three ministries and the city council offices affected by the fire and noted that all offices were providing important public services. He said the President is giving special attention to ensuring that the offices can resume their work promptly.
Following the meeting, the Minister inspected the ongoing efforts by the Ministry’s Public Works Department to clean and clear the fire site.
