Standing up for the freedom of others is crucial to safeguarding our own, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reminded the Maldivian people on Tuesday.

In a message posted on X on the occasion of this year’s Human Rights Day, President Muizzu said that as we commemorate the Human Rights Day, we are reminded that our rights are interconnected.

“It’s a reminder that standing up for the freedom of others is crucial to safeguarding our own,” he said, adding that this principle lies at the heart of the Human Rights Day first celebrated 75 years ago.

The President insisted that Maldives remain steadfast in its commitment to building a society where dignity, equality, and justice which according to him are the cornerstones of our democracy.

This administration is dedicated to fostering a peaceful and inclusive society by enacting policies and laws that ensure equitable access to healthcare, education, and justice, tailored to our unique geography, he added.

“We are dedicated to upholding press freedom, workers' rights, gender equality and a sustainable environment for our future generations,” the President said.
