Vice President Reaffirms Commitment to Ongoing Development Projects

The administration will not suspend developmental projects initiated by the previous administration, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has assured. Speaking at the inauguration of the new football grounds on Ukulhas in Alifu Alifu Atoll, the Vice President emphasised that these projects would continue at a faster pace.

Vice President Latheef stated that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will continue to deliver on his electoral pledge of ensuring that developmental projects initiated by the previous administration, that are beneficial for the people, will not be hindered or suspended during his government. He also highlighted the administration's commitment to securing necessary funds and ensuring the speedy progress of these projects.

The Vice President described the new football ground on Ukulhas as a prime example of the administration's dedication to continuing developmental projects without hindrance. He also addressed the needs of the youth, urging them to voice their concerns and promising that the administration would cater to their needs and wishes.

Stressing the importance of recognising and appreciating the youth as the driving force behind the country's advancement, Vice President Latheef assured that, with the advice from President Dr Muizzu, the administration will try to cater to the needs and wishes of the youth. The administration would seek ways to address the concerns of the youth of Ukulhas, he added.

The Vice President also noted the administration's plans to renovate sports facilities that require maintenance and repair, ensuring they are completed during its term. He specifically noted that there were many sports grounds on various islands that had been left unmaintained and in need of repairs.

The inauguration ceremony, attended by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and members of Ukulhas Island Council, featured performances by students from local schools and a football game between veterans and local players.

While the event highlighted the administration's efforts to promote sports facility development across the country, the administration continues to prioritise the development of sports facilities nationwide, aiming to complete several projects by the end of 2025.
