Ministry of Tourism has announced that over 1,000 beds have been brought into the tourism industry this year.
Statistics released by the tourism ministry indicated that a total of 13,657 beds were operating in 809 guest houses in the beginning of this year. In the latest daily update report released by the ministry, a total of 15,325 beds were operating in 909 guest houses as of December 2. Hence, this is an increase of 1,214 beds, compared to the start of this year. Furthermore, additional 100 new guest houses were inaugurated this year.
While several beds have been brought to operations in the tourism industry, the total number of beds in the industry under operations have increased to 62,864. Therefore, the registered bed capacity for tourism is 62,864 beds. This includes, 42,539 beds in resorts and 15,325 in guest houses and 3,044 beds in safaris and 1,956 beds in hotels. Meanwhile, tourism facilities currently operational include 171 resorts, 909 guest houses, 155 safaris, and 14 hotels.
