Finance Minister affirms that all required reports are being published

Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer has confirmed that the Ministry of Finance has been publishing all the essential reports for the given deadline. He made these remarks while speaking at the parliament.

During the parliamentary sitting, Parliamentarian Mohamed Ibrahim inquired on why the publications of the Weekly Fiscal Development and the Monthly Fiscal Development reports were halted. These reports outline the state expenses on a weekly and a monthly basis and have been published by the ministry since 2018.

In response to this question, Minister Zameer stated that some issues in recording the expenses of the public accounts reconciliation works in June. As such, the minister explained that issues with the guidelines used by the ministries in recording expenses in the loan funded accounts' disbursement accounting system, has led to the expenses being recorded in this year's state budget. He further noted that the recommendations have been sought from the auditor general to ensure better accounting procedures.

Furthermore, Minister Zameer disclosed that rules and guidelines have now been set to ensure that such mistakes are not repetitive. He further affirmed that efforts are underway to implement these rules.
