The local online news platform "Adhadhu" has issued a public apology for its earlier report regarding President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to the United States in September. The platform had previously claimed that the President traveled in first class, a statement that was later retracted.
In its apology, "Adhadhu" clarified that the story was published based on erroneous information it had received. The note further stated that, in line with his election pledge, President Dr. Muizzu had actually travelled in business class.
The President's visit to the United States was to attend the 79th United Nation's General Assembly (UNGA79). During his visit, President Muizzu delivered a powerful statement at the General Debate of UNGA 79 and addressed the UN Security Council (UNSC), becoming the first Maldivian Head of State to do so since the nation joined the UN 59 years ago.
Throughout his trip, the President delivered several speeches on critical topics and played a leading role in co-chairing significant side events during UNGA 79. The President also held bilateral discussions with various delegations.
As part of the trip, The President also took time to engage with the Maldivian community in New York.
