Political leaders of Maldives extend felicitations on the occasion of Republic Day

Maldivian political leaders have extended warm greetings to all citizens on the occasion of Republic Day, celebrated annually on 11 November, marking the Maldives' transition to a democratic governance system for the second time.

In honour of Republic Day, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef conveyed greetings and well wishes to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and to all Maldivians. Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom also shared his felicitations through a social media post.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed extended Republic Day greetings as well, emphasising that public approval and engagement are key pillars of a democratic system. Similarly, former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih shared his warm greetings, underscoring that in democratic systems, power originates from the people, highlighting citizens’ influence as the most crucial component of democracy.

Alongside political leaders, ministers and foreign dignitaries also shared Republic Day greetings with the Maldivian people.
