Efforts are underway to open Maldivian Embassy in Italy: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that efforts are underway to establish a Maldivian Embassy in Italy. He made the statement while speaking at the official ceremony held to commemorate Republic Day in the Maldives.

In his address, President Dr. Muizzu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building strong bilateral relations with countries worldwide. As part of this goal, the government is actively working to open embassies in various nations. In line with these efforts, the government is currently focused on establishing an embassy in Italy, as it has now been granted the necessary authority. Presently, there are a total of 16 Maldivian embassies and high commissions in countries around the world.

Italy ranks among the top five markets for tourist arrivals in the Maldives, with a total of 116,195 Italian tourists visiting the country to date this year.
