Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania has held the first round of political-bilateral consultations.
These consultations serve as an essential platform for both nations to engage on issues of mutual interest, addressing bilateral, regional, and multilateral matters.
During the discussions, both sides explored ways to deepen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation across key areas, including education, culture, environment, and climate change. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening collaboration in the tourism sector, with a focus on improving connectivity and promoting people-to-people exchanges.
The consultations also provided an opportunity to discuss pressing international and regional issues, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to closer cooperation in multilateral forums, guided by shared values and priorities.
The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Ambassador Dr. Hala Hameed, and Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Ambassador Traian Laurențiu Hristea.
