Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has started to showcase the Maldives at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London.
The WTM, being held from November 5-7, is one of the most influential travel and tourism events worldwide. A total of 217 representatives of the Maldives are partaking in the prestigious event, including the Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal, and Managing Director of MMPRC Ibrahim Shiuree.
This year at the WTM, the Maldives will be advertised at a single decor stand, with an area of 650 sqm. The stand features 75 co-exhibitor counters, 55 B2B meeting tables and three industry meeting areas. With this, MMPRC is engaging with well-renowned travel trade professionals from UK and around the world, by holding one-on-one meetings, providing the latest updates on tourism and related products. It is also facilitating a platform in which stakeholders can promote individual properties.
UK is the among the top five tourist arrival markets, with 125,016 tourists visiting the Maldives as of September 30. This contributes to 8.5% of the total tourist arrivals. MMPRC stated that its participation at the event primarily aims to enhance relations with key operaters and media outlets in the UK, promote the Maldives' tourism industry amd increasing the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives sustainably.
