Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has emphasized the critical role that community partnerships play in the success of schools. He highlighted that these partnerships extend beyond merely providing resources—they also support teachers, foster mutual respect, and ensure strong leadership within schools.
The Minister made these remarks during a ceremony to hand over air conditioners (ACs) gifted by the Chinese government to the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).
Minister Dr. Shafeeu explained that the project, which aims to install ACs in all government schools, is part of a broader effort to improve the overall comfort and productivity of the school community. By enhancing the physical environment, the initiative seeks to foster better relationships between students and teachers. The Minister believes that creating a comfortable and positive environment will not only improve student behaviour and interactions but also nurture a greater sense of responsibility and respect for one another.
Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin expressed his hope that the initiative would bring positive change to the Maldivian education sector. He also emphasized China's long-standing relationship with the Maldives and its ongoing support in various sectors since the two countries established diplomatic ties.
The government aims to install ACs in all government schools by the start of the 2026 academic year. This ambitious project marks a significant investment in the future of education and is expected to improve not just the physical comfort of schools, but also the overall learning environment, ultimately contributing to better educational outcomes for students.
