Vice President attends opening ceremony of CHOGM 2024

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has attended the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024. The event was graced by the presence of th head of the Commonwealth, His Majesty King Charles III and delegations from Commonwealth nations.

The Vice President was accompanied by a Maldivian delegation, which included Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, and High Commissioner of the Maldives to the UK Dr. Iruthisham Adam.

The Prime Minister of Samoa, Fiamē Naomi Mata’afa, officially welcomed the delegates to CHOGM. The Vice President also participated in the official family photograph with delegation heads attending the event.

Commonwealth leaders convene for CHOGM every two years, hosted by different member countries. This year marks the first time CHOGM is being held in a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) in the Pacific. The theme for CHOGM 2024 is "One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth".
