The Parliament has approved the names of four individuals who applied for the vacant positions of the Tax Appeal Tribunal. A total of 13 individuals applied for the four vacant positions. The four positions became vacant following the dismissal of four members: President Mohamed Munawwar Ali, Vice President Hussain Zaidhaan Jaleel, Member Khadheeja Naeem, and Member Ahmed Ashraf.
These names of the 13 individuals were sent to the parliament's Judiciary Committee for further consideration. The committee reviewed the names and has submitted a report to the parliament. Following a voting sessions, Abdul Ghani Mohamed, Ibrahim Shareef, Hassan Zuhair Mohamed and Shifza Abdul Gayyoom were appointed for the vacant positions.
President Dr. Muizzu dismissed the four members of the Tax Appeal Tribunal following recommendations from the Parliament. The decision was approved after several cases were filed against the tribunal, and it received support from the Judiciary Committee.
