Quran recitation classes will breathe new life to the mosques: Islamic Minister

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that Quran recitation classes will breathe new life to the mosques. He shared this in a social media post following the launch of the classes.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs initiated Quran classes in mosques across 29 islands, welcoming children of various ages to participate. These sessions, taught by local imams, are offered free of charge to all students.

Minister Shaheem recognized the significant contributions of voluntary imams and teachers throughout history in promoting Quranic knowledge in the Maldives. He highlighted the strong demand from imams on the islands who wish to teach the Quran, despite challenges such as limited instructional space.

The Ministry has authorized 32 organizations to conduct Quran classes in mosques, including programs in 23 islands, 3 associations, and 5 mosques in the Male' area. Looking ahead, the government aim to expand these classes to as many islands as possible, further enriching community engagement and spiritual education.
