Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen has affirmed that the government will prioritise the needs of airlines, aiming to enhance the aviation industry. The remarks were made by the ministerduring the ceremony held to commemorate the one-year anniversary of BeOnd, a local airline.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Ameen emphasised the importance of expanding BeOnd's role in enhancing the aviation industry. The minister affirmed the government's commitment to prioritise and fulfil the needs of airlines as well. He noted that promoting the aviation industry was a top priority of the government.
During the ceremony, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed highlighted the significance of Maldivian cuisines being present in the airline menus. The minister expressed optimism about realising this vision.
BeOnd is the world's first premium leisure airline. BeOnd has introduced an additional aircraft to its fleet, aiming to expand the services provided. The latest aircraft was showcased to the media.
The Maldives-based SIMDI Company Private Limited and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based investment firm Arabesque partnered to launch the world's first luxury airline for leisure travel, BeOnd, in October 2023. The airline offers flights to six destinations across the world; including Munich in Germany, Zürich in Switzerland, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Milan in Italy. The airline's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tero Taskila revealed plans to commence flights to additional destinations.
