President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has attended the Maldives-India Tourism Networking Evening in Mumbai, focusing on enhancing tourism investment between the two nations. The event brought together industry experts and prominent Bollywood celebrities, underscoring the Maldives' status as a top vacation destination.
During the event, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the Maldives’ increasing allure, particularly among Indian travellers, with nearly 100,000 visitors from India recorded this year. Stars like Shilpa Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha expressed their affection for the Maldives, describing it as a peaceful getaway filled with cherished memories.
The Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism and the MMPRC are collaborating to further increase Indian tourist arrivals, recognizing the vital role that Bollywood plays in promoting the destination. Earlier in the trip, Dr. Muizzu addressed the India-Maldives Business Forum, marking a successful state visit to India at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu.
