Maldives and Saudi Arabia sign agreement to collaborate in the sports industry

Maldives and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement, aiming to collaborate in enhancing and supporting the sports industry. The agreement was signed by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and Saudi Arabia's Minister of Sport Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, in a special ceremony held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Under the agreement, sports associations and institutions from both countries will be trained. It also will facilitate sports teams from both countries to visit each other, enhance direct communication between clubs, teach sports medicine and anti-doping, while organising competitions and sports events. Additionally, Maldives and Saudi Arabia will exert collective efforts in investing in the sports industry, exchange documents, training equipment and sports-related experiences as well.

While the Maldives and Saudi Arabia signed this agreement, Saudi Arabia has previously also assisted in developing the Maldives' sports industry. As such, national teams as well as clubs have completed training camps in Saudi Arabia.
