President urges preserving the Maldives' peaceful ways to sustain tourism

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the importance of preserving the peaceful ways of the Maldives to ensure the sustainability of tourism in the country.

In a social media post commemorating the National Tourism Day, President Dr. Muizzu stated that the foundation of tourism is brotherhood, friendship, compassion, peace and security. He underscored the crucial need to preserving the peaceful Maldivian lifestyle, to maintain the success of the tourism industry.

The Maldives celebrates the National Tourism Day annually on October 3. It was initially celebrated in 2022. This day marks the opening of the Maldives' first resort, 'Kurumba Village', on October 3, 1972, in Vihamanaafushi, Kaafu Atoll.

The Maldives' tourism industry has expanded significantly, and provides top tier tourism services. It has been crowned as the World's Leading Destination for four consecutive years.
