President says historical monuments bear witness to Maldives' history

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the significance of the historical monuments left by ancestors, noting they bear witness to the Maldives' rich and proud history.

The president shared his reflections on social media in honor of the first-ever National Heritage Day, underscoring the nation's enduring legacy as a testament to its independence. Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also extended his felicitations on social media.

This marks the inaugural celebration of National Heritage Day in the Maldives, following the Cabinet's decision in November 2023. The day, observed on September 12, commemorates the enactment of the Cultural Heritage Act.

The theme for this year loosely translates to "Preserving Heritage, Rekindling the Fire of Hope," reflecting the importance of safeguarding the nation's cultural legacy.
