President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stipulated measures to prevent sale of medicine imported and sold in the Maldives with huge profits. The president has instructed all relevant authorities to take necessary measures to prevent such huge profits from being taken in the sale of medicines.
Taking to social media, President Muizzu noted that the prices of medicines in the market are market are currently at a profit of between 200% and 2,000%. Noting that this should be changed, the president stated that a stringent of measures to be taken has been instructed to all relevant authorities. He stated that the details of the measures will be announced soon.
President Muizzu noted that the measures will help reduce the market price of the medicines and added that this will also save a large amount wasted by the universal health scheme of the government, Aasandha. He noted that the money saved would be used to develop and improve the quality of health services provided.
