Foreign Minister notes digital growth will build a stronger, innovative society

Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer has noted that digital growth will build a stronger and more innovative society. He made the remarks during the "Summit of the Future Side Event".

Speaking at the side event, Minister Zameer said the side event discussed how important it is to facilitate economic growth. He also noted that the event will discuss the importance of increasing educational opportunities and enabling everyone to participate in the digital economy.

Noting that the mission of the government is simple, direct and unwavering, the Maldivian Foreign Minister stated that the government aims to build a strong and innovative society that enhances the quality of life of every citizen through digital progress. He added that this vision goes beyond just the inclusion of new technology.

Speaking about the summit in New York, the minister said he would call on countries for digital transformation. He also expressed hope to use technology to create a more inclusive and resilient future. The Minister also added that a digitally educated population is needed to sustain the Maldives’s progress and competitiveness in the global market.

Summit of the Future Side Event: A Vision for Intelligence Driven Future for Maldives is a joint event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN Maldives in preparation for the UN Summit of the Future to be held in New York from 22 to 23 this month. The Summit of the Future is a high-level UN event that brings together world leaders to raise their voices on sensitive issues that affect people's lives, futures and future generations.
