Gov't says purpose of nationalism project is to conduct scientific research on Maldivian origin

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has stated that the purpose of the Nationalism Project is to research and study the origins of the Maldivians from a scientific perspective. He made the remarks during the special ceremony held in Maaungoodhoo Island in Shaviyani Atoll to marks this year's National Day.

Taking the podium at the ceremony, Minister Adam Naseer reiterated that the purpose of the Nationalism Project is to research and study the origins of the Maldivians from a scientific perspective to restore the national identity that is being lost. He highlighted that the country's history shows that unity was what saved it from every danger or threat it faced. The Minister stated that the people of Maldives should always stay united.

Furthermore, Minister Adam Naseer noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu aims to restore the unity and the noble qualities that existed among the ancestors. He added that the President is working tirelessly to be a Maldives of the Maldivians. He stated that the President gives a high priority to restore nationalism in Maldivians.

The National Day of the Maldives is celebrated annually on the 1st of Rabi'-Al-Awwal to commemorate the liberation of the country from the Portuguese. During the ceremony held in Maaungoodhoo Island, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef urged Maldivians to remember the many victories achieved on the national day, marking the end of the nation's longest period of foreign military oppression.
