Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has announced that the Maldives will host the Commonwealth Games Federation's (CGF) Oceania & Asia Regional Meeting. Scheduled for September 22-23 at CROSSROADS Maldives, this will be the first CGF regional meeting held in Asia, and the Maldives is honoured to be the host.
The MOC revealed that officials from 21 countries will be participating in the regional meeting. The Common Wealth Games is one of the largest global sporting events, with the participation of 53 countries. While the Maldives participated in the games since 1986, it lost the opportunity to participate in the games in 2016, following its withdrawal from the Commonwealth.
Since rejoining the Commonwealth in 2021, the Maldives participated in the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Buckingham, United Kingdom (UK).
