President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that his administration has not made any attempt to influence the judiciary so far in its tenure and will continue to do so. He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with a local media outlet.
President Muizzu expressed his desire to have a fully independent judiciary with no outside influence. He added that his administration will not influence the Maldivian judiciary with any way or form.
The President noted that the release of former President Abdulla Yameen from custody, is proof that the administration’s lack of influence in the judiciary. He added that necessary amendments will be made to the constitution to make the judiciary fully independent with no outside influence.
President Muizzu remarked that he wished equal, fair treatment for everyone. Expressing his dislike for unfair treatments, the President stated that no one should face an unfair sentence. He reiterated that the judiciary should be independent in every way and that no government body should influence it.
In his interview, the President refuted claims made against him. As such, he denied the rumors of his meeting with the former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and his involvement in the MMPRC corruption case.
