Gov't confident in economic growth for this year and next

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has expressed strong confidence in the country's economic growth for both this year and the upcoming year.

Speaking at a press conference at the President's Office, Minister Saeed projected positive economic growth for the near future. He acknowledged the economic challenges faced when President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government assumed office and emphasized the president's commitment to revitalising and expanding the economy.

Minister Saeed highlighted the efforts of the Cabinet and the Economic Council in fostering economic growth. He outlined initiatives aimed at reducing state expenditure and ensuring revenue stability. The minister also announced that a report detailing changes in financial systems and fiscal estimates for the next three years is forthcoming. This report will reflect ongoing efforts by Parliament and the Development Bank of the Maldives, and will include significant updates related to the Foreign Investment Bill. Minister Saeed expressed optimism that these policies will positively impact economic growth this year and next, contributing to a more stable and enhanced economy.
