The Ministry of Health has urged all health centres to prepare for health risks and emergencies which may arise due to the severe weather conditions. Statistics shows that a number of transmissible illnesses tend to emerge during the rainy season.
Speaking to PSM News, Senior Public Health Officer of the Ministry of Health Ahmed Faisal noted some health centres on certain islands do not operate around the clock. The minister emphasised the ministry is making every effort to ensure residents in these areas receive adequate healthcare and treatment. Faisal mentioned discussions are currently underway with administrative authorities, health centres, and stakeholders to resolve this issue. He also underscored the ministry's commitment to monitoring the islands' conditions post-rainy season and devising strategies for improvement.
Additionally, Faisal assured all health centres are fully equipped and prepared to manage cases of the common cold, with necessary medications available. He praised the health ministry’s efforts in gathering detailed information about each island and commended the health centre staff for their dedication.
The ministry is also working to conduct public awareness programmes for common cold. As such, the ministry is sharing information on such communicable diseases which may spread in various platforms, including social media.
