Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has visited the Hiyala Weekend Market held at Mohamed Jamaluddin School of Fuvahmulah City. The vice president visited the market as part of his trip to Fuvahmulah City.
During his visit to the market, the vice president toured the stalls and incurred about the products displayed in the stalls. He also incurred about the businesses owned by the women who took part in the weekend market.
Hiyala Weekend Market is organized by the Business Center Corporation (BCC). BCC has been holding these markets in Fuvahmulah City since 2021. However, during the past three years, the market was held under the name Hiyala Expo.
As BCC is now working to expand the weekend market to other islands, the latest market in Fuvahmulah City featured 46 women entrepreneurs, offering food, clothing, jewellery, crafts, skin care and home décor.
