Plastic surgery services have been introduced at the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. This is the first time the service has been launched in a hospital outside of capital Male’ City.
Plastic surgery services were launched at the hospital as part of the efforts of the hospital's management to launch new services. The service will be provided at the hospital in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Acting Medical Director, Head of Department of Surgery and first sub-specialist of plastic surgery of IGMH Dr. Mohamed Waheed will lead the service at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. Dr. Waheed also played an important role in introducing wound care and laparoscopic surgery to the hospital.
With the introduction of plastic surgery services at the hospital, treatments can now be offered to scars caused by burns and other injuries caused by fires and other incidents. The hospital will be providing the service as an outreach programme, with the aim of expanding the service in a sustainable manner.
