Maldives discusses lowering duties on seafood exported to EU

The Maldives and the European Union (EU) have discussed lowering the duties imposed on the seafood products exported to EU countries from the Maldives. The discussion took place after the Ambassador of EU to the Maldives Maria Carmen Moreno Raymundo presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu and Ambassador discussed various sectors of cooperation, especially focusing on lowering tariffs on fishing exports, following the Maldives signing the Samoa Agreement recently. He also expressed sincere appreciation to the EU for its ongoing support for the development of the Maldives.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the EU were established in 1983. The ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident ambassador and resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
