President inaugurates the Malé Fahi Programme

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the Malé Fahi Programme, aimed to effectively address the congestion caused in the greater Malé region due to the increase of vehicles occupying the streets.

The programme initiated by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is divided into three major components; automobile registration through rules and regulations, limiting the number of vehicles and enhancing public transportation facilities, as well as making roadways safer, easier, and more tranquil for pedestrians.

Following the inauguration of the Malé Fahi Programme the President also launched a book titled as Malé Fahi Programme. The programme was designed by the transport ministry under the president's direction.

As part of the Male' Fahi Programme, several measures will be implemented to address issues related to the automobile industry. As such, a designated area will be provided for vehicles from businesses to be stored on a commercial basis starting from August 1. The government will also be developing a vehicle domain number system, similar to those used in developed countries, to ensure the authenticity of domains that currently lack proper records.
