VP emphasises efforts to monitor developmental matters

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has emphasised the ongoing efforts of the government to vigilantly oversee all developmental matters and initiatives undertaken. The statement was made by the vice president, during a meeting held at the President's Office, with the Island Council and (Women's Development Committee) WDC members of Nolhivaranfaru, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The discussions focused on vital development initiatives for the island and it’s most pertinent needs.

During the meeting, the council stressed the significance of timely completion of major development projects and addressed ongoing challenges faced by residents. Key concerns included the urgent requirement for utility and sanitation facilities for the 100 newly constructed housing units on the island, the enhancement of football and futsal fields and increasing sports-related facilities available on the island. Furthermore, the council members underscored the crucial importance of initiating the road development project and the new school building project expeditiously, while relocating the police station and ensuring the provision of ATM services. The members also mentioned the need to deepen the harbour and establish proper waste management facilities on the island. They further added that healthcare facilities and services needed to be improved, while ensuring the convenient facilitation and access to medicine.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Latheef reiterated President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's dedication and unwavering commitment to overcome the financial challenges and ensure economic development. He further affirmed that the administration will engage in discussions regarding the concerns raised with the relevant government authorities, and closely monitor the progress.
