Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed has revealed that efforts are underway by the government to establish an international standard art school in the Maldives. The remarks were made by the minister during the ceremony held to launch Unveiling Vision 2024, the Maldives contemporary art exhibition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Waheed disclosed that the government has formulated a special plan, aimed at developing and enhancing the arts field. As such, the minister revealed that efforts are underway to establish an art school in the Maldives, adding that currently works are ongoing to make an outline of the school.
Additionally, Minister Waheed shed light on the opportunities which can be opened for local artists to showcase their artworks at global platforms. Under the initiative, the National Art Gallery will feature various art collections to tourists, under a special policy. He expressed confidence that the industry will grow during the current presidential term.
