The Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has said that it will implement a gate fee for customers at its sites in Maafushi, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Thinadhoo City, starting from August.
WAMCO noted that services have been provided to registered residents of these three islands since June. However, there will be no charges for services in June, and the bill for July will be issued in the first week of August.
Residents using WAMCO services in Maafushi, Kulhudhuffushi, and Thinadhoo will be charged a monthly fee of around USD 10 per household. Businesses will be charged USD 0.017 per litre in Maafushi, and USD 0.064 per litre in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi.
Additionally, WAMCO sites in Maafushi will charge USD 32 per tonne, while those in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi will charge USD 7 per tonne. A gate fee of USD 172 will be also be applied to these three islands.
