The Ministry of Education and the Department of National Registration (DNR) have signed an information exchange agreement to ensure children's right to education. The agreement was signed during a special ceremony held at the Education Ministry on Monday.
State Minister Dr. Ahmed Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of the Education Ministry, while Deputy Minister Ahmed Ali signed on behalf of DNR. According to the Ministry of Education, the purpose of this agreement is to guarantee every child's right to education from age 4 to 18, covering preschool through grade 12, in accordance with Article 6 of the Education Act.
The agreement outlines the responsibilities of both agencies in facilitating easy access to information from the DNR. The Education Act mandates that every child should have access to education from UKG (Upper Kindergarten) to grade 10.
The government is committed to strengthening the education system, with the education sector receiving the highest expenditure. For the 2024 budget, the government has allocated a total of USD 337.6 million to the education sector.
