Gov't ensures eligible beneficiaries receive flats under scheme

Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed has confirmed that all eligible beneficiaries will receive flats under the Binveriyaa Scheme. This announcement comes after a thorough review of the list of the first 4,000 flats to be allocated by the previous government.

During a press briefing, Dr. Haidar emphasised the current administration is working diligently to expedite the flat allocation process compared to the previous administration. He highlighted the government's steadfast support for Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited (FDC) in all matters related to the allocation of the 4,000 flats. Dr. Haidar noted that while the concrete work for most of the flats has been completed, the allocation is expected to be finalized by 2025.

The review of the list, initially released by the previous administration, was recommended by the Anti-Corruption Commission (SCC) after a comprehensive investigation. In response, the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development established a special committee to examine the list. Dr. Haidar reiterated all individuals deemed eligible will receive flats.

Acknowledging the high public interest in this matter, the minister assured that the review process would be thorough and transparent, with the final list of beneficiaries announced once the flats are ready for allocation.

The 4,000 housing units in Hulhumale' Phase II are being developed by two Indian companies. JMC Projects Limited is constructing 2,000 units, while the remaining 2,000 units are being developed by National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC).
