Met Maldives issues weather advisory for seafarers

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Maldives) has issued a cautionary advisory for seafarers due to predicted adverse weather conditions. Heavy rain showers are expected across most parts of the country until June 25.

Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms are forecasted for the central and northern atolls. Rough seas are expected in the central and northern atolls over the next 24 hours. Strong winds ranging from 13-23 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour, are expected, leading to rough sea conditions. Wave heights in the central and northern atolls are predicted to be between 5-7 feet. Mostly fine weather with occasional scattered showers. Seafarers are advised to exercise caution due to the expected rough sea conditions and strong winds. The adverse weather is anticipated to subside by Thursday.
