Over 150 vehicles parked obstructing transportation removed

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has reported the removal and towing of 163 vehicles parked on the streets of Male' City over the past two days.

According to the police, the operation targeted illegally parked four-wheelers, particularly in areas such as Boduthakurufaanu Magu and Ameenee Magu. Among the 163 vehicles towed, 84 were removed from the Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi area to the swimming track. Additionally, 79 vehicles were towed from Ameenee Magu to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and from Boduthakurufaanu Road to Senahiya Hospital to Maagiri Hotel, including near the Izzuddin Magu bus stop.

The police noted that one of the seized vehicles on Izzuddin Magu was unregistered.

Relevant authorities have also launched an operation to remove and destroy vehicles left abandoned on the roads. Over 300 vehicles have been seized and destroyed so far. These initiatives are aimed at reducing congestion on the city's roads, thereby improving conditions for drivers and pedestrians.
