Eid activities will adhere to Islamic customs: Minister

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has assured that the government will conduct all Eid al-Adha activities in accordance with Islamic customs. He made these remarks while speaking to PSM News.

This year, the government has designated three islands to celebrate Eid at the national level: Villingili in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Ungoofaaru in Raa Atoll, and Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu Atoll.

Minister Adam Naseer emphasised that all programmes conducted on these islands will adhere strictly to Islamic customs. He noted that preparations are well underway, with significant involvement from the local communities. Numerous activities are planned to ensure a vibrant celebration.

The minister highlighted that traditional elements will be prioritised during Eid festivities. These include bodumas (traditional Maldivian fish parade), boduberu (traditional drum music), and other cultural activities.
