A common misconception regrading the role of nurses is that they only have to follow and treat patients according to the instructions given by doctors. However, nursing is a completely different healthcare profession. Nurses regularly monitor the patient's condition and ensure that patients adhere to the doctor's instructions. They additionally are always prepared to assist patients in emergency situations.
Nursing can be considered as a feminine profession in the Maldives as women have been actively working in the field for a long period of time. However, it can be observed that men have also started stepping into the field as per their interests.

The provision of nursing opportunities to Maldivians who studied nursing will assist to reduce the outflow of money from the circular flow model.
Currently, special examinations are being conducted to evaluate the proficiency of nurses, aiming to assess their competence and provide additional training opportunities.
