Gov't offers more land transfers from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu

The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced opportunity for individuals seeking to transfer land plots from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu under the Binveriya Housing Scheme.

The housing ministry stated that a total of 1,347 land plots allocated from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu are now available for transfer, following concerns raised about the initial allocation by the previous administration. The insufficient provision for essential services in the Giraavarufalhu area prompted the need for revision. Despite the allocated quantity, the revised land use plan for Giraavarufalhu falls short of meeting necessary requirements.

Initially, the previous government designated 5,432 plots, but due to constraints, only 1,347 plots are now earmarked for transfer to Gulhifalhu. These include 193 plots of 1,250 square meters, 663 plots of 1,650 square meters, 487 plots of 2,050 square meters, and four plots of 2,450 square meters. However, the availability of 2,450 and 2,050 square meter plots falls below the stipulated numbers, leading to a reissue of offers for these categories. The window for land transfer applications remains open until May 13.

Interested parties can submit their applications through the Hiyaavahi Portal, with the ministry disclosing that if the number of applicants exceeds the available plots, beneficiary selection will be conducted through a lottery process.
