Dialysis services to commence in all atolls this year

Minister of Health Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has unveiled plans to launch dialysis services across all the atolls of the nation. The minister made the remarks in response to the concerns regarding the quality of services provided by Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), raised by Parliamentarian Ahmed Saleem.

Addressing the issue, Minister Dr. Khaleel underscored the significance of developing and modernising hospitals and health centres within the atoll to enhance the services provided by IGMH. The minister disclosed that initiatives are in progress to enhance and upgrade the services offered by regional hospitals, including the introduction of various services previously unavailable. As such, plans have been formulated to commence the services of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), city scan, and dialysis within this year.

Currently, kidney dialysis services are available from IGMH, Hulhumale' Hospital, Vilimale' Hospital and the regional hospitals of atolls.
