Modern warehousing complex to be developed in Hulhumale'

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has contracted Chinese-based Rotime Engineering And Technology Company Limited to construct a high-quality warehousing complex in Hulhumale'.

The agreement was signed at a special ceremony attended by Managing Director of HDC Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, and Managing Director of Rotime Engineering And Technology Zhou Weidong. HDC has emphasised that the complex will be meticulously designed to accommodate a variety of storage needs, catering to different types of goods. Particularly, it aims to provide enhanced storage capacity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), offering them opportunities for business expansion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Fazul highlighted that the current land use plan of Hulhumale' lacks dedicated provisions for SMEs. As such, he said that the upcoming warehouse complex is anticipated to bring about a transformative shift in the movement and storage of goods within the area.

HDC stated that the complex will encompass a range of storage units, including cold storage facilities, industrial warehousing units, and storage spaces for food and consumables. In addition, it will feature a dedicated building with office spaces and a showroom, equipped with state-of-the-art automated warehouse management systems. The project entails the construction of two buildings, each spanning four floors. Valued at USD38 million, the endeavor is slated for completion over a two-year period.
