Generators dispatched to 7 islands

Fenaka Corporation Limited has disclosed that new generators have been sent to the islands in vulnerable conditions, prioritizing those facing ongoing electricity challenges.

Fenaka has announced the deployment of generators to a total of 7 islands, spanning across the Shaviyani, Noonu, Raa, and Baa Atolls. Additionally, varying kilowatts of generators have been dispatched to each island accordingly.

Therefore, 250-kilowatt generators are earmarked for dispatch to Kihaadhoo; Baa Atoll, Maroshi; Shaviyani Atoll, and Henbadhoo; Noonu Atoll. Simultaneously, 400-kilowatt generators will be allocated to islands such as Maafaru; Noonu Atoll, Maalhos; Baa Atoll, and Maakuraathu; Raa Atoll. Additionally, a 600-kilowatt generator has been designated for deployment to Alifushi in Raa Atoll.

Additionally, Fenaka reaffirmed that alongside the installation of new generators, it will implement a permanent solution to the electricity issues. It further highlighted that there has been a recent increase in electricity problems due to inadequate maintenance of engines.

The present administration has confirmed that both the generator sets and their maintenance have been neglected in the past. Sub-consequently, proactive efforts are underway to address the issue.
