Additional lift installments begin in Hiyaa Towers

As part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's presidential pledge, the practical work pertaining to the installation of additional lifts in Hiyaa Towers has begun.

The work was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed and Managing Director at Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed following a ceremony held in Hiyaa Tower 2.

Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director Fazul underscored their unwavering commitment towards the welfare of the people, highlighting its consistent efforts in alleviating inconvenience faced by the residents. Citing the ongoing installation, he reiterated President Muizzu's efforts addressing the same. He further revealed the lifts s to be fully installed within a year.

Providing insights on the upcoming projects, Fazul confirmed that efforts are underway to practically initiate additional upgrades to Hulhumale' phase one and two. Additionally, he stressed the corporation to highly prioritise housing projects included in the government's mandate.

Addressing the attendees, Minister Haidar affirmed that while the project is slated for completion within a year, several challenges are likely to be faced. However, he emphasised the importance of expediting the project, highlighting its overall benefits to the community.

While each of the 16 Hiyaa Flat towers built during President Yameen's tenure encompasses of 3–4 lifts, residents living in the flats have expressed major concerns due to the lack of lifts.

HDC has tasked the project to Shen Yung Yuan Intellectual Group. Remarkably, the President has resolved to install two additional elevators in each of the 16 towers in Hiyaa Flats. Thus, a total of 32 lifts are to be installed. These encompass of patient lift alongside a 14 seater left in each tower.
