MPS warns against crashing campaign billboards due to strong winds

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has issued warnings against incidents where campaign billboards are crashing due to strong winds and unfavourable weather conditions.

Due to the escalating competitiveness to win the forthcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for April 21, numerous campaign materials and billboards have been strategically placed on roads and areas where a greater number of individuals reside. However, MPS revealed that unfortunate incidents of billboards falling or crashing have been occurring due to inclement weather. Hence, it cautioned against this while urging individuals to be aware and prepared for such situations. Additionally, MPS urged individuals and authorities placing the bill-boards to ensure that the campaign materials are well secured on one side of the road.

The weather has been forecasted to be rainy in several parts of the country due to the change in monsoons from the northeast to southwest.
