President announces the land reclamation of 30ha on Maavah

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced a reclamation project spanning 30ha of land on Maavah, Laamu Atoll during his address to the residential community the island.

Initially planned for 15ha, the President disclosed that the reclamation project would expand to encompass a total of 30ha by its completion. Furthermore, he emphasised the implementation of coastal protection measures to mitigate the impact of high tides on Maavah.

In his address, President Dr. Muizzu affirmed the administration's commitment to revitalising previously stalled initiatives across the nation. He also announced the forthcoming initiation of several significant projects, each with expenditures exceeding USD3.2 million, with some slated to commence as early as July.

Assuring residents, the President pledged that the island's development and road construction would align with their preferences. He also indicated prompt commencement of resort development in the lagoon near Maavah.
