Minister urges to verify authorisation of Umrah groups

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has emphasised the need to verify the authorized status of private Umrah groups that facilitate pilgrim travels.

In a post on social media, Minister Shaheem disclosed that the Ministry will publish a list of permitted groups authorized to organise Umrah travel on its official website and in the Gazette.

The Ministry confirmed that 50 groups have been granted legal permits, and the list will include their contact details and expiration dates of the permits. This measure aims to provide transparency and enable pilgrims to make informed decisions when selecting a group for their Umrah journey.

Given occasional instances of fraudulent groups operating under false pretenses, the Ministry stressed the importance of choosing a reliable and authorized group for Umrah pilgrimage. Minister Shaheem reiterated the significance of Umrah pilgrimage and the need for pilgrims to have a safe and fulfilling experience.
