SDFC rejects loan cessation rumors, ensures ongoing support

The SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) has rejected rumors claiming it has ceased issuing loans, asserting its continued provision of financial support.

In a statement, SDFC clarified that not only is it currently disbursing loans, but it has also increased its lending activities. Notably, it has introduced a specialised loan programme tailored for the fisheries sector, known as the Kandufalhu Nafaa loan, alongside existing loan options catering to women-led enterprises. Applicants can also conveniently access the loan facilities through the bank's customer portal, which has witnessed an increase in loan inquiries and applications this year.

SDFC was established by the government and operates with the primary mission of extending low-interest financial aid to expanding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Maldives. Its goal is to foster sustainable economic growth by facilitating access to funding across diverse sectors of the economy.
